Little Rock is Arkansas’s capital and largest city, set where the Arkansas River leaves the hills and opens onto the Delta. State government, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital are major employers, and the city is home to the investment bank Stephens Inc., Dillard’s department stores and Windstream. It carries a weighty place in American history as well: Little Rock Central High School was the site of the 1957 desegregation crisis, and the William J. Clinton Presidential Center sits on the riverfront downtown.

Clinton National Airport is close to downtown, but airline service to many cities requires a connection, and the drives to Memphis, Dallas or northwest Arkansas take two to five hours. Flying private makes a same-day trip to the Capitol, a hospital or an office tower simple, and opens easy side trips to Hot Springs, the Ozark lakes and hunting lodges in the Delta. Visitors enjoy the River Market District, miles of riverside trail across the Big Dam Bridge and views from the summit of Pinnacle Mountain.
