Things to do in Casper

Casper is Wyoming’s second-largest city and the commercial center of the middle of the state. It grew with the oil fields of Salt Creek and Teapot Dome to the north, and energy remains central today, with oil and gas operators, pipeline and service companies, uranium interests and refining, along with healthcare, retail and Casper College. Several historic emigrant trails, including the Oregon, Mormon and California trails and the Pony Express route, crossed the North Platte River here, and that history is a big part of the city’s identity.

    On a hill above the city, this center explores the Oregon, California and Mormon trails and the Pony Express through exhibits, simulated river crossings and wagon experiences.
