Things to do in Greenville

Greenville has transformed itself from a textile mill town into one of the most dynamic cities in the Southeast. The Upstate region’s economy is built on advanced manufacturing: Michelin’s North American headquarters is here, BMW’s largest plant in the world is just up the road in Greer, and companies in automotive, aerospace, energy and engineering have followed. Furman University and Clemson’s automotive research campus support that growth, and the downtown, rebuilt around the Reedy River, has become a model for other cities.

  1. 01

    Falls Park on the Reedy

In the heart of downtown, waterfalls on the Reedy River are framed by gardens and the Liberty Bridge, a curving pedestrian suspension bridge with views of the falls.

  2. 02

    Swamp Rabbit Trail

This multiuse trail of more than 20 miles follows a former rail line from Travelers Rest through downtown Greenville, with cafés and bike shops along the route.

  3. 03

    Main Street

Greenville’s tree-lined Main Street has wide sidewalks with outdoor dining, local shops, galleries and the Mice on Main, a scavenger hunt for small bronze mice.

  4. 04

    Peace Center

Downtown’s performing arts center on the Reedy River presents touring Broadway shows, concerts, comedy and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.

  5. 05

    Paris Mountain State Park

Just north of the city, the park offers hiking and mountain biking trails, a swimming lake and stone buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

  6. 06

    Table Rock State Park

About 40 minutes northwest, the park’s namesake granite mountain offers a challenging hike with views across the Blue Ridge escarpment, plus a lake and historic lodge.
