Things to do in Taos

Taos sits on a high plateau at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and it has drawn artists and seekers for more than a century, from the painters of the Taos Society of Artists to D. H. Lawrence and Dennis Hopper. Taos Pueblo, inhabited for roughly a thousand years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies just north of town. Today the economy revolves around tourism, the arts, outdoor recreation and Taos Ski Valley, along with second homes, small businesses and remote workers drawn by the scenery and the slower pace.
