Things to do in Great Falls

Great Falls takes its name from the series of waterfalls on the Missouri River that forced Lewis and Clark into a grueling month-long portage in 1805. Hydroelectric dams later earned it the nickname the Electric City. Today it is the hub of north-central Montana: Malmstrom Air Force Base, home to a Minuteman III missile wing, and the Montana Air National Guard anchor the economy alongside healthcare, agriculture and grain processing for the wheat and barley farms of the surrounding Golden Triangle.
