Deep Creek Lake is Maryland’s largest freshwater lake, a reservoir created in the 1920s in the mountains of Garrett County, the state’s westernmost corner. Its shoreline is lined with lake homes and vacation rentals, and the area has become a four-season destination, with boating and swimming in summer, fall foliage and skiing at Wisp Resort in winter.
