Things to do in Page

Page was founded in 1957 as a camp for the workers building Glen Canyon Dam, and it has grown into the hub for Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The lake’s red rock canyons wind for many miles into Utah, and houseboats, marinas and tour operators are central to the local economy. The town sits beside the Navajo Nation, where Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon draw visitors from all over the world on guided tours run by Navajo-owned companies, and the area’s hotels, restaurants and outfitters serve a steady stream of photographers, boaters, rafters and anglers.

    Antelope Canyon

The sculpted, light-filled passages of Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, on Navajo land east of town, can be visited only with authorized Navajo guides. Book tours well ahead.

    Horseshoe Bend

A short walk south of town leads to the rim of a dramatic meander where the Colorado River loops around a sandstone butte roughly a thousand feet below.

  3. 03

    Lake Powell

Houseboats, ski boats and kayaks can be rented at marinas such as Wahweap to explore side canyons, sandy coves and red rock shorelines across the vast reservoir.

  4. 04

    Rainbow Bridge National Monument

Reached by boat across Lake Powell and a short walk, this natural bridge is one of the largest in the world and is sacred to several Native American nations.

  5. 05

    Glen Canyon Dam

The Carl Hayden Visitor Center beside the dam explains its construction and the area’s geology, with views of the dam and the river canyon below.

  6. 06

    Lees Ferry

About an hour southwest by road, this historic river crossing offers renowned trout fishing in the clear water below the dam and is the launch point for Grand Canyon river trips.
