St. George is the hub of southwestern Utah’s Washington County, a fast-growing region known for its warm, sunny climate and dramatic red-rock scenery. The city has become a popular destination for retirees and second-home owners, and its economy now includes healthcare, construction, tourism, Utah Tech University and a growing number of remote workers and small businesses. Golf courses, spas and resorts take advantage of mild winters and stunning desert landscapes.
St. George Regional Airport sits on a mesa south of town with a long runway, and flying private there is far faster than the drive from Salt Lake City, which takes about four hours, or from Las Vegas, about two. From St. George, Zion National Park is about an hour away, and Snow Canyon State Park and Sand Hollow are even closer. Visitors come for golf, hiking, mountain biking, performances at Tuacahn Center for the Arts and access to the canyons of southern Utah and northern Arizona.
