Logan is the center of Cache Valley in northern Utah and home to Utah State University, a major land-grant research institution with strengths in agriculture, engineering and space science. The valley’s economy combines higher education, dairy and food processing, manufacturing and healthcare, and its pastoral setting makes it popular with families and retirees. The Bear River Range rises to the east, and Logan Canyon leads up to Bear Lake.

Logan-Cache Airport has a long runway just north of town, and flying private there avoids the drive of nearly two hours from Salt Lake City’s main airport. That makes it practical for visiting researchers, parents of USU students and business travelers to manufacturing and food companies. Leisure visitors come for hiking, fishing and fall color in Logan Canyon, the turquoise water of Bear Lake and the valley’s creameries and historic downtown, where the restored Ellen Eccles Theatre hosts touring shows and the summer opera festival.
