Hagerstown sits at the crossroads of I-70 and I-81 in western Maryland’s Washington County, a location that has made it a hub for logistics, distribution and manufacturing. Large warehouses and distribution centers ring the city, and manufacturers, including a major Volvo Group powertrain plant, along with healthcare and financial services, provide much of the local employment. The city has a strong aviation heritage, as Fairchild Aircraft once built military transports at the airfield.

Hagerstown is about an hour and a half from Washington and Baltimore by car, and the airline options from its regional airport are limited. Hagerstown Regional Airport, just north of the city, has a long runway that makes private flights easy for executives visiting distribution centers and plants. Visitors come for Antietam National Battlefield, the C&O Canal towpath, Harpers Ferry, the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and the historic Maryland Theatre downtown, along with orchards, farm markets and the quiet back roads of the Cumberland Valley.
