Things to do in Sierra Vista

Sierra Vista grew up beside Fort Huachuca, the historic Army post at the foot of the Huachuca Mountains that is now home to the Army’s intelligence training center and its network command. The fort and the defense contractors that support it are the backbone of the local economy, along with healthcare, retail and a growing retiree population drawn by the mild climate at about 4,600 feet. The city calls itself the Hummingbird Capital of the United States, and the canyons of the Huachucas and the San Pedro River draw birders from around the world.

Near Benson to the north, guided tours explore a living limestone cave of colorful formations, kept in pristine condition since its discovery was kept secret for years.
