Things to do in Camden

Camden is one of the oldest inland towns in South Carolina, founded in the 1730s, and was the site of two important Revolutionary War battles. Like Aiken, it became a winter resort for wealthy Northerners in the late 1800s, who brought their horses with them, and it remains a center of the equestrian world. Springdale Race Course hosts the Carolina Cup, one of the country’s most famous steeplechase races, and the town is surrounded by horse farms, polo fields and training centers. The economy also includes manufacturing, healthcare and tourism.
