Things to do in Gettysburg

Gettysburg is the site of the largest battle of the Civil War, fought over three days in July 1863, and of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address four months later. Today the national military park surrounds the town with monuments, preserved fields and observation towers, and history enthusiasts, school groups and veterans’ groups visit throughout the year. The town is also home to Gettysburg College and is the center of Adams County, one of the largest apple-growing regions in the country.

    Thousands of acres of battlefield, with monuments, markers and sites such as Little Round Top and Pickett’s Charge, can be explored with a licensed battlefield guide.
