Things to do in Santa Fe

Founded by the Spanish around 1610, Santa Fe is the oldest state capital in the United States and one of the most distinctive small cities in the country. Its Pueblo Revival architecture, centuries-old plaza and setting at 7,000 feet in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains have drawn artists, writers and collectors for more than a century. State government, tourism and an outsized art market drive the economy, and the city is home to the Santa Fe Institute, a renowned complexity research center, as well as many people who work at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
