Idaho Falls is the commercial center of eastern Idaho, located on the Snake River and best known as the home of Idaho National Laboratory, the country’s leading nuclear energy research lab. When to go. Summer is the most popular time in Idaho Falls, with warm days, river activities and easy access to Yellowstone and the Tetons.
