Princeton is defined by Princeton University, whose Gothic campus dominates the center of town, and by a cluster of research institutions that includes the Institute for Advanced Study, where Albert Einstein spent the last decades of his career. The surrounding Route 1 corridor is home to pharmaceutical, biotech and financial firms, among them Bristol Myers Squibb, and the town draws a steady stream of academics, scientists, investors and families on campus visits. Palmer Square and Nassau Street give it a walkable center of shops, restaurants and bookstores.

Princeton sits midway between New York City and Philadelphia, roughly an hour or more by car from either, and traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 1 makes timing unpredictable. Flying private into Trenton-Mercer Airport or the small Princeton Airport keeps you close to campus and the research parks, and makes reunions, commencement or a quick meeting easy to schedule. Visitors enjoy the McCarter Theatre, the university’s art museum, Revolutionary War sites and Grounds For Sculpture in nearby Hamilton.
