Lewisburg is a historic town in the Greenbrier Valley of southeastern West Virginia, with an attractive main street of 18th- and 19th-century buildings, galleries, shops and restaurants. Its most famous neighbor is The Greenbrier, the grand resort in White Sulphur Springs about ten miles east, where guests have taken the waters since the late 18th century. The resort, with its Dorothy Draper interiors, championship golf courses and once-secret Cold War bunker built for Congress, remains the economic heart of the valley along with tourism, healthcare and agriculture.

The Greenbrier Valley is surrounded by mountains, and the drive from the nearest major airports takes several hours, which is why Greenbrier Valley Airport, just north of Lewisburg, has long welcomed private aircraft carrying resort guests, golfers and executives attending meetings. Flying private puts you a short drive from check-in. In town, visitors can see a performance at the historic Carnegie Hall, one of only a few still in use, and explore Lost World Caverns. The Greenbrier River Trail follows the river for miles through forests and small towns, and the State Fair of West Virginia comes to nearby Fairlea each August.
