Las Vegas is the convention and entertainment capital of the United States, a city whose resorts, arenas and exhibition halls host some of the largest trade shows in the world, from CES in January to the construction, automotive and hospitality gatherings that fill the calendar. Gaming and hospitality remain the core of the economy, but professional sports, logistics, healthcare and a growing number of corporate offices have broadened it, and the metro area keeps attracting new residents from California and beyond.

The city’s main airport sits right next to the Strip, but it is one of the busiest in the country and can be crowded on show weeks and fight weekends. Flying private into Henderson Executive or North Las Vegas lets you arrive on your own schedule and avoid the terminal lines entirely, which matters when a convention or a dinner reservation sets the clock. Beyond the casinos, visitors come for celebrity-chef restaurants, residencies and shows, Raiders and Golden Knights games, and quick escapes to Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.

Things to do in Las Vegas

When to go. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable weather in Las Vegas, with warm days ideal for pool decks and desert hikes. Summer is extremely hot, though resort pools and indoor entertainment keep the city busy. Major conventions like CES in January can fill hotels and raise rates, and the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix brings racing to the Strip in November. Winter days are mild, with cool nights.
