Newport Beach anchors Orange County’s coastline, and its harbor, lined with yachts, waterfront homes and the small islands of Balboa and Lido Isle, is one of the most affluent waterfronts in California. Newport Center and Fashion Island hold financial firms, real estate developers and Pacific Life’s headquarters, while neighboring Irvine adds UC Irvine, corporate campuses and a strong medical device industry. Orange County as a whole draws executives, investors, buyers and families in steady numbers throughout the year.

John Wayne Airport sits a few miles inland and has a large business aviation community, which makes Newport an easy place to arrive and depart on your own schedule rather than driving the 405 down from Los Angeles. From here, a direct flight reaches Palm Springs, Napa, Lake Tahoe or Mammoth in about the time it takes to cross the LA basin by car. Visitors come for the beaches from Huntington to Laguna, Balboa Island’s ferry and frozen bananas, the shopping at South Coast Plaza and day trips to Disneyland in Anaheim.
