Dallas has become one of the country’s great corporate addresses, with a long list of major headquarters spread across the city and its northern suburbs and deep roots in banking, telecommunications, real estate and logistics. Deals still get closed over lunch in Uptown and dinner in the Design District, and a trip to Dallas often comes with a second stop in Plano, Frisco or Fort Worth before the day is done.

The Metroplex is enormous, and the big airline hubs that serve it are built for volume rather than convenience. Flying private lets you land closer to where you are actually going, skip the terminal crowds and continue on to East Texas, Oklahoma, the Hill Country or a client visit elsewhere in the region without backtracking. Off the clock, Dallas rewards a longer stay: the largest contiguous urban arts district in the country, serious steakhouses and Tex-Mex, live music in Deep Ellum, pro sports across the Metroplex and shopping that draws visitors from across the South.

Things to do in Dallas

When to go. Spring and fall are ideal in Dallas, with mild temperatures and the Dallas Arboretum in full color during its spring Dallas Blooms festival. Autumn brings the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park, running for more than three weeks from late September into October, along with the Red River Rivalry football game between Texas and Oklahoma. Summers are hot, and winters are generally mild apart from the occasional ice storm.
